It has become official that Microsoft will release six versions of its new operating system called Windows Vista. It is expected to launch in late 2006 and has caused a great expectation to see the revolutionary technology that Microsoft has in the evolution of Windows XP.
Tentatively, the six versions of Windows Vista would be:
- Windows Vista Starter. It will be a very basic version of the operating system designed specifically for emerging markets that do not have computers with sufficient power.
- Windows Vista Home Basic. Lack of multimedia capabilities and is designed for users who just want to browse the Internet, check email and write papers. Europe will not be incorporated into the controversial player Windows Media Player.
- Windows Vista Home Premium. The company expects to become the leading product for consumers. Among other capabilities, will record and watch high-definition television, burn DVDs and create and use other multimedia functions. The product also incorporates technology to decipher handwriting to allow Tablet PC users to write notes on the computer.
- Windows Vista Business. Designed for small and medium enterprises whose employees are not handled with extreme skill with information technology.
- Windows Vista Enterprise. Designed for large companies. Available tools to enable compatibility with applications designed for older operating systems.
- Windows Vista Ultimate. Version will be the highest quality, which will include the best features of all editions.
